TAICHUNG, TAIWAN – Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Surabaya strengthens its commitment to internationalization through a strategic visit to China Medical University on June 8. The visit marks an important step in expanding academic and research collaboration with one of Asia’s leading medical universities.

The UNUSA delegation, led by Rector Tri Yogi Yuwono, together with Vice Rector I Ahmad Rusdiansyah and Vice Rector III Bambang Sektiari Lukiswanto, meets with Liang-Yo Yang, Dean of the Office of Global Affairs and Professor at the School of Medicine, to discuss a framework for future cooperation.

The proposed collaboration focuses on faculty development through postgraduate study opportunities and postdoctoral fellowships, as well as international clinical internship programs for students from the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences, and Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery. These opportunities are expected to take place within CMU’s network of teaching hospitals, which hold international accreditation standards.

Recognized for its excellence in medical education and research, China Medical University develops advanced research in various fields, including integrative medicine and precision cancer therapy. The university’s strong reputation in Asia serves as a valuable benchmark for UNUSA as it continues to enhance its academic quality and global competitiveness.

“Although UNUSA is still a relatively young institution, we remain committed to progressive development through partnerships with world-class universities. Such collaborations play an important role in accelerating our research, innovation, and healthcare services to compete at the global level,” says Prof. Tri Yogi.

To support students in accessing academic opportunities in Taiwan, UNUSA establishes a Mandarin Corner on campus. The initiative helps students improve their Mandarin language skills and better prepare for international academic and professional programs. The visit concludes with a shared commitment from both institutions to build a sustainable partnership that benefits not only the academic community but also society through future healthcare innovation.
