TAIWAN – As part of its commitment to accelerating internationalization, Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Surabaya (UNUSA) continues to expand collaboration with strategic partners around the world. On Tuesday (June 9, 2026), UNUSA Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Tri Yogi Yuwono, DEA., IPU., ASEAN.Eng., together with Vice Rector I Prof. Dr. Ir. Ahmad Rusdiansyah, M.Eng., CSCP., CLTD., IPU., and Vice Rector III Prof. Dr. Bambang Sektiari Lukiswanto, DEA., DVM., visits Hungkuang University (HU), Taiwan, to discuss and strengthen plans for academic and research cooperation.

The meeting results in an initial agreement on four key pillars of collaboration that are expected to be implemented in the near future.

The first pillar focuses on the establishment of cooperation through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). As a follow-up, Hungkuang University plans to conduct a reciprocal visit to the UNUSA campus in Surabaya in the coming months.

The second pillar involves the development of postgraduate programs at the Master’s and Doctoral levels, particularly in the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery, Faculty of Health, and Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, especially the Early Childhood Education Study Program.

The third pillar introduces a double-degree program with a 2+2 scheme for undergraduate students, providing opportunities for international academic experience and cross-cultural learning.

Meanwhile, the fourth pillar focuses on international internship programs aimed at enhancing students’ professional competencies and global exposure.

By collaborating with Hungkuang University, which is widely recognized for its excellence in health sciences and technology, UNUSA seeks to strengthen the quality of education, research, and community engagement.

“Through this strategic partnership, we aim to create more international opportunities for our students and academics. We believe that collaboration with Hungkuang University will contribute significantly to improving educational quality and strengthening UNUSA’s global competitiveness,” says Prof. Tri Yogi Yuwono.

He also expresses optimism that the agreed initiatives can be implemented soon and bring tangible benefits to both institutions.

“We hope these four pillars of cooperation can be realized in the near future and generate meaningful impacts on the quality of our graduates, research productivity, and international reputation,” he adds.

The partnership reflects UNUSA’s ongoing commitment to building a strong global network and fostering international collaboration that supports innovation, academic excellence, and sustainable development. (PR Unusa)
