TAIWAN – Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Surabaya (UNUSA) continues to strengthen its position in the international education arena. During a visit to Taiwan, UNUSA Rector Prof. Tri Yogi Yuwono, DEA., IPU., ASEAN.Eng., together with Vice Rector I Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Ahmad Rusdiansyah, M.Eng., CSCP., CLTD, IPU., and Vice Rector III Prof. Dr. Bambang Sektiari Lukiswanto, DEA., DVM., holds a strategic discussion with the Special Branch Board of Nahdlatul Ulama, Taiwan (PCINU Taiwan) on Sunday afternoon (7/6).

The visit takes place alongside their attendance at the graduation ceremony of students in the International Industrial Talents Education Special Program (INTENSE) at St. John’s University. The meeting focuses on various collaboration opportunities that aim to improve educational access for the Indonesian diaspora and expand UNUSA’s community engagement network abroad.

One of the main topics is the plan to open online learning programs for Indonesian Migrant Workers and female migrant workers in Taiwan. UNUSA sees PCINU Taiwan as a strategic partner that supports educational coordination for migrant workers who want to pursue higher education while managing their work responsibilities.

In addition, UNUSA and PCINU Taiwan discuss the possibility of implementing an International Community Service Program. Through this initiative, UNUSA students engage directly with Indonesian communities in Taiwan and carry out community-based empowerment programs.

Joint research also becomes an important focus of the discussion. The cooperation examines the challenges and opportunities faced by Indonesian migrants in social, health, and economic aspects. The research aims to provide recommendations that contribute to the welfare of the Indonesian diaspora in Taiwan.

PCINU Taiwan serves as a key communication and coordination hub between UNUSA and Indonesian communities across Taiwan. With its strong network and deep understanding of local conditions, PCINU Taiwan becomes an ideal partner to support the sustainability of these collaborative programs.

This initiative reflects UNUSA’s commitment to integrating higher education with the real needs of society and extending the impact of its academic community beyond national borders. It also demonstrates UNUSA’s support for Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
