Surabaya-August 31st, 2024, as the final event of the 4th Brave! Program, which has been running from August 26th to 31st, 2024, through the Global Engagement of Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Surabaya(Genus), organized a trip to Mount Bromo. This event involves 14 participants from diverse backgrounds, including 4 students from Naresuan University, Thailand; 4 Unusa international students from Timor Leste and the Philippines; 4 Genus volunteers; and 2 ambassadors from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at Unusa.

The journey began on August 30th, 2024, with participants gathering at Unusa campus at 11:00 p.m. They departs to the Sukapura Jeep Shuttle at 11:45 p.m. and arrived there at around 2:00 a.m. From Sukapura, they continued to Bromo Sunrise Point to witness the breathtaking sunrise.

“This is my first time visiting Bromo, and I am absolutely amazed by the beauty of Indonesia. The sunrise, the crater, and the stunning landscapes are beyond what I imagined. It’s an unforgettable experience, and I feel so lucky to be part of this program that allows me to explore such incredible places.” Said Chompunut from Naresuan University..

After enjoying the sunrise, the group proceeds to explore several notable points in the Bromo area, including Widodaren Point and Bromo Crater. The journey provides a memorable experience for participants to appreciate Indonesia’s natural beauty, especially for the international students visiting the country for the first time.

The highlight of the trip is a visit to Bromo Crater, where participants could witness the stunning natural scenery up close. After the crater visit, the group returns to Sukapura and continues to a local restaurant for lunch. The trip concludes with participants returning to Unusa campus around 2:30 p.m. This trip to Mount Bromo not only marks the end of the 4th Brave! Program with lasting impressions but also serves as a platform to strengthen relationships among participants from various countries. Additionally, it is part of Genus’s ongoing efforts to promote international experiences and showcase Indonesia’s natural wonders to foreign students.
