Surabaya-Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Surabaya (Unusa) welcomes an official return visit from delegates of National Dong Hwa University (NDHU), Republic of China (Taiwan), on Thursday, July 3rd, 2025. The visit follows Unusa’s previous delegation to NDHU in January this year.
The delegation is officially received by Unusa’s Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Achmad Jazidie, M.Eng., along with other university leaders. In his welcoming remarks, Prof. Jazidie expresses high appreciation for the partnership and optimism about the positive impacts of cross-border academic cooperation.
“We are honored to welcome the NDHU delegation. This partnership is part of Unusa’s commitment to establishing meaningful and impactful global collaborations. We believe this cooperation will strengthen our academic and research endeavors, while also broadening the international horizons of both our students and faculty,” he stated.

During the meeting, both universities discusses several strategic forms of collaboration, including student exchange programs, joint research initiatives, community service engagements, and visiting scholar schemes. A significant agreement is reached to initiate a postgraduate (master’s level) student exchange program in the near future.
Under the agreement, each university will annually send either two full-time students for a one-year exchange or four full-time students for a one-semester exchange. The program is prioritized for its substantial academic and global exposure benefits for participants.
Notably, students participating in the exchange will be exempted from tuition fees at the host institution, thereby opening greater access to international learning experiences without additional financial burden. In addition to academic enrichment, students will gain valuable cultural exposure and broaden their global perspectives.

Prof. Pan Wen-Fu, Dean of Hua-Shi College of Education at NDHU, expresses his pride in partnering with Unusa, particularly with the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP). He highlights the importance of sustained and mutually beneficial collaboration amidst the evolving global higher education landscape.
“We are very proud to collaborate with Unusa, especially with the FKIP. We believe this student exchange program will serve as a starting point for long-term cooperation that delivers tangible benefits for both sides,” he remarked.
This partnership is expected to lay a strong foundation for building an inclusive, collaborative, and globally oriented higher education ecosystem. It also aligns with Unusa’s internationalization vision in enhancing the quality of the university’s core missions in education, research, and community service.
