Surabaya – Pandemic Covid-19 does not make the students of Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Surabaya (Unusa) lost their energy to study and to creat positive activities. The pandemic is used as a topic as well as a momentum to share experiences related to the Corona virus regarding what efforts are being made in several countries how to handle and process the learning process of Nursing and Midwifery Study Program students.

Through the activities of the International Health Student Forum (Nunimal –Nursing and Midwifery International) Student Forum by the theme “How The World Change as a Response to Covid-19” is followed more than 800 students from 16 universities. International participants come from Philippines, Taiwan, Malaysia and Timor Leste discussing related to the experiences of several countries in dealing with Covid-19.

The activity was held on Saturday (24/7) through zoom meeting and youtube streaming presented five speakers. They are Dr Sonia Reisenhofer from La Trobe University Australia, Tomoko Hasegawa, PhD from University Fukui, Japan, Dr. Duangporn Piyakong from Naresuan University Thailand, M. Muslih, S.Kep.Ns a doctoral candidate from Taipei Medical University, Taiwan, and Ika Mardiyanti, SST., M.Kes from Unusa.

It is not much different from what happened in Indonesia, in Australia, said Sonia Reisenhofer, the problem of information circulating on the internet also needs to be filtered, because a lot of the information is hoax. Now conditions in Australia are promoting vaccination activities for all citizens. “Health workers are at the forefront of efforts to vaccinate citizens,” he said.

Meanwhile, Tomoko Hasegawa, Ph.D., MPH., explained that Japan really cares about health workers, therefore the use of information and communication technology (ICT) is one of the ways in which the country of Sakura protects health workers. To perform medical records, the clinic at Tomoko Hasegawa College does it electronically. This is done to make it easier for health workers to input patient health records while protecting health workers and speeding up the work of nurses. “We use a tool that can record medical records from patients, so that it can make it easier for nurses to handle patients. This program records the patient’s medical records digitally so that the treatment can be even better,” he explained.

The Rector of Unusa, Prof. Dr. Ir Achmad Jazidie said, this activity, which is the first to be held by FKK students on an International activities. It is  forward step for Unusa. This activity in the form of sharing experiences can add insight for students about how other countries are dealing with the pandemic and how the learning process takes place there, he said.

According to the Rector, the experiences carried out in these countries can be used as examples of their success in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic. “Through this activity, I hope that students and lecturers can be motivated to learn positive things related to efforts to handle the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.
