Surabaya – Office of International Affairs with official name Global Engagement of Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Surabaya (Genus) synergizes with PCI NU Australia – New Zealand to hold International Virtual Talk Series II with the theme “Nahdliyin Diaspora in ANZ and Breakthrough Movement of Nahdlatul Ulama” Saturday, (23/07).

The event is opened with remarks from the second vice Rector of Unusa, Ir. Muhammad Faqih, M.SA., Ph.D. and the head of Tanfidziyah PCI NU Australia-New Zealand, Yusdi Maksum.  

The head of Tanfidziyah PCI NU Australia-New Zealand, Yusdi Maksum tells about commonology and the political landscape in Australia.

“Australia is a multicultural country, with all religious freedom upheld. Every believes who not breaking the Australian law have the right to practice their religion. So please all the Unusa students never stop dreaming. The world and globalization have been opened to reach out your dreams. With du’a everything is possible and come to Australia”. Said Maksum

Maksum also appreciates the committees that have worked really hard to hold the event.

“I really appreciate to the committees, this event is very professional and well organized and I hope this is not the end of our silaturahim”. Said Maksum. 

The participants come from Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Students, Students under Nahdlatul Ulama higher education, and general participants.

Two amazing speakers are Arif Syamsulaksana, he is switching services engineer and the vice head of Tanfidziyah PCI NU for New Zealand and Mohammad Hasan Basri, he is Ph.D. candidate at the school of social sciences Western Sydney University and the vice Katib Syuriyah PCI NU Australia-New Zealand. They tell about The Role Nahdliyin Diaspora in Australia-New Zealand and sharing scholarship opportunity in Australia-New Zealand.

Arif as a permanent resident of Australia-New Zealand explains the privilege and challenge of being a permanent resident.

“When we are talking about the privilege we also talking about the challenging. One of the privileges of being a permanent resident is getting the same rights as a local resident. But the challenge is growing our children based on Syariah Islam”. Said Arif. (nrl/adm)
