Surabaya- The visiting of Ambassador of India to Indonesia, Shri Manoj K. Bharti to the Nahdlatul Ulama University of Surabaya (Unusa) is warmly welcomed Thursday, (20/5). This welcome is carried out by University officials and international affairs office volunteers that wearing traditional Indonesian clothes.
In his remarks, Shri Manoj K. Bharti said that his visit to East Java is the first time since he is appointed as Ambassador. The choice of Unusa as the only campus visited in East Java could not be separated from the big name Nahdlatul Ulama, which is the largest community organization in Indonesia. “India wants to establish better relations with the Indonesian people, especially people in East Java and Universities, especially Unusa,” said him.
He also donates some books to Unusa’s Library and offers a scholarship program from India Government. Regarding the scholarship offer to be given by India Government, the alumnus of Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur said, there are many universities in India that have the same study programs at Unusa. The health sector is mainly in the fields of herbs, information technology, and economics. Therefore, he offers Unusa lecturers and students to take this scholarship.
Meanwhile, the Rector of Unusa, Prof. Achmad Jazidie in his speech said, the visiting of Ambassador of India to Indonesia to Unusa is an honor for Unusa and this is a very important moment in the efforts to develop Unusa in the future related to international cooperation.
“As the new ambassador, he chooses Unusa as an important agenda for a diplomatic visit to East Java, then this is an opportunity for Unusa to establish good relations with India Government and Universities in India,” said Jazidie. (nrl/adm)
