Surabaya, the Directorate of Academic and Student Affairs and Global Engagement of Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Surabaya (Genus) held an enlightening online event titled “Unlocking Global Opportunities: Sharing Session from Alumni Student Mobility” (6/7). The session was attended by approximately 200 Unusa students and featured insightful discussions from experienced alumni student outbound mobility.
The event commenced with an opening remark by Prof. Kacung Marijan, Drs., MA., Ph.D., the Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs. Prof. Marijan emphasized the importance of global engagement and the benefits of participating in student mobility programs.
“This event is very important since it will give you insight related to the benefits in joining student outbound mobility. You will know the requirements and the eligibility so that you can prepare it start now” said marijan.
The main speaker of the session was Nurul Latifatul Azizah, an officer at Global Engagement of Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Surabaya. She provided a comprehensive overview of the various outbound mobility programs offered by Unusa, highlighting opportunities for students to gain international exposure and enhance their academic and professional skills.
Following Nurul’s presentation, three alumni shared their experiences from different student mobility programs: Amrina Rosyadah, a student from the Occupational Health and Safety (K3) program and an alumni of the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) 2023. Shofi Futri Pratiwi an alumni of the Credit Transfer program at Universiti Putra Malaysia for the academic year 2023-2024. Sukma Cahya Ramadhan, a participant in the Buddies Global Symposium at Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2024.
Each alumnus recounted their unique experiences at their host universities, sharing valuable insights and personal growth stories that inspired the attendees. Their narratives underscored the transformative impact of international educational experiences and encouraged current students to seize these opportunities. The session concluded with a Q&A segment, where students eagerly engaged with the speakers, seeking advice and information on how to participate in future mobility programs. (nrl/genus)
