Surabaya – As part of the 5th Brave Program, a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) is held on August 18th, 2025, at Café Fastron, Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Surabaya (Unusa). Carrying the theme “Ensuring Safe and Sustainable Water for All to Promote Good Health and Well-being”, the session is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The discussion is divided into two groups, each focusing on a specific SDGs 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation and SDGs 3 – Good Health and Well-being.

Participants are assigned to represent different countries, bringing diverse perspectives to the table. First group that discuss about Clean Water and Sanitation are Ebtesam Saleh Al Herabi – Canada; Maria Yolanda R. Aquino – Germany; Leila Sylvia F. Bautista – Brazil; Almira A. Gonzales – United Kingdom; Mark Christian R. Arizala – South Africa; Zamierre Anne U. Dauz – France; Khrizzia Alliah V. Purugganan – Argentina; Jermy Kaye B. Mangoba – New Zealand and for 2nd Group that discuss about Good Health and Well-being are Gwyne Shelly P. Docutin – Kenya; Kyla Marie R. Aviles – Morocco; Aira Kimberly P. Dig – Egypt; Al-Vandee Ismani Arri – Jordan; Shernalyn Tabon Sali – Ethiopia; Ilhas Musjamil Soares – Chile; Musbahu Adam Ahmad – Uzbekistan.During the discussion, participants share ideas and innovative solutions inspired by their assigned countries. “Access to clean water should not be seen as a privilege, but as a basic human right that must be protected for future generations,” expressed Ebtesam Saleh Al Herabi (Canada).

Another participant highlights the link between water and health. “We cannot talk about good health and well-being without ensuring safe and sustainable water. Both are interconnected and must be addressed together,” said Gwyne Shelly P. Docutin (Kenya).

The FGD not only deepen participants’ understanding of global challenges related to water and health but also strengthened their role as young changemakers. By combining knowledge, creativity, and collaboration, the session emphasizes the importance of youth voices in promoting sustainable development worldwide.
